RAM, or Random Access Memory, is a kind of computer data storage, which enables the data to be read randomly without accessing the preceding bytes before that. That makes the RAM substantially faster than other sorts of storage devices including DVDs or HDDs where all the information has to be read so that you can access certain data. If you have a shared hosting account, the total amount of memory your web programs can use cannot be fixed and may sometimes depend upon the free memory which is available on the physical hosting server. With a standalone web server, however, there's always a minimum amount of physical memory which will be readily available at all times and will not be allocated to other customers even if it is not in use. That's valid with our virtual and dedicated servers.
